Dinosaur sighting in Nebraska!

Posted on Jun 17, 2010 in Johnsons from the Front | 0 comments

There is a dinosaur on the loose in Chadron, NE.! Some men in the Chadron Berean church built a life-size dinosaur that they put on the back of a flatbed trailer. They have been moving it about town for several weeks promoting the Family Vacation Bible School. It is now sitting at the church as we do the VBS. They have been feeding 150 to 200 people every night – hot dogs with all the trimmings, potato chips, drinks, and snow cones. The snow cones have been a big hit...

Stone Age Artifacts in Iron Age Tombs

Posted on Jun 17, 2010 in Creation Nuggets | 0 comments

Archaeologists are puzzled by what has recently been found. Stone age artifacts have been found in Iron Age tombs. This is a conundrum for an evolutionary worldview, but how about a creationist worldview. Check out a recent interview with Frank Sherwin of the Institute for Creation Research on Issues, Etc. Listen to the Interview on the Issues, Etc. website at: http://issuesetc.org/2010/06/16/5580/ From the Archives of the Issues, Etc. website: http://issuesetc.org/ Take a...

“And God Created the Great Whales” …. Genesis 1:21

Posted on Jun 16, 2010 in Nuttings from the Front | 0 comments

Living in Grand Junction on the edge of the desert, we don’t get to see God’s ocean creatures “up close and personal.” However, on the past trip to Oregon, we had the privilege and pleasure of meeting Carrie Newell, a marine biologist and whale researcher. Carrie has been studying whales for the past 18 years, and is a wealth of knowledge about them (and other sea creatures). She shared many fascinating details about their lives, diet, reproduction, and migration patterns....

Follow Up

One of the great blessings of this ministry is seeing children come to the Lord. This summer, in only 2 weeks of Vacation Bible Schools, we have already seen 23 children respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ! They are “babes” in Christ with an excitement and eagerness that is heartwarming … they are ‘on fire’ for Jesus. As we all know, a fire takes fuel. In Pr. 26:20 we read, “Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.”...

A Raging Storm

Posted on Jun 10, 2010 in Johnsons from the Front | 0 comments

A few evenings ago, my wife and I sought shelter in a basement from a possible tornado. We were in our motorhome, parked next to a country church where we were teaching a Vacation Bible School. Late that night, it began to rain and blow with great intensity. A spectacular storm was underway! Outside, lightning was flashing almost continuously making the inside of the motorhome light up like a strobe light. This astonishing light show was accompanied by the reverberating...

Dragon Fossil?

Dracorex – The dinosaur that looks like a dragon For many years creationists have been making connections between dinosaurs and dragons. However, dragons are often portrayed as having fanciful features like wings, bizarre horns and claws, and the ability to breathe fire. Enter the Dragon Say hello to Dracorex hogwartsia. It’s more eye-catching than most dinosaurs because it’s what most people imagine dragons looking like. Yet this is a real animal! The nearly complete...

Help us in India

Posted on Jun 9, 2010 in Stepaneks from the Front | 0 comments

I have been traveling and teaching in India every winter for the last three years, and one request that I repeatedly receive from my Indian Christian friends is the crucial need for good laptop computers.  Many of the Christians there are very poor and cannot afford them. We all know the blessing that this technology can bring in education and learning. This will help run items such as Bible software and other critical tools in a ministry environment.   If you are able,...

Out of the Mouth of Babes

“And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.”    Genesis 21:6 When Marilyn and I teach Vacation Bible Schools and Bible Camps, we always spend part of one session presenting a demonstration of the gospel. At the end of the message, we invite the children and adults to accept the gift of salvation. We then ask those who respond to go to the back of the auditorium and speak to counselors about their response (we are not trying to force...

Icons of Evolution

Posted on Jun 7, 2010 in Johnsons from the Front | 0 comments

Several years ago, I was teaching at a public forum in Alaska about “The Biogenetic Law: Ontogeny Recapitulates Phylogeny”. Essentially, this is the evolutionary idea that as we form in the womb, the human embryo will look like the animals we evolved from. After showing a picture of Haeckel’s drawing of recapitulation (the ones that have been shown to be a fraud), an evolutionary professor interrupted to state that picture was no longer being shown in the textbooks. There...

A “Scientist,” but not a Christian?

Posted on Jun 5, 2010 in Nuttings from the Front | 0 comments

Mary Jo & I just had a parent tell us that their son recently told her that he wanted to be a “scientist,” not a Christian. Oh, my! He is certainly suffering under the influence of too many who are telling him, “If you want to be a scientist you have to leave your faith out of it.”  To make matters worse, the son was getting this at a private “religious” school!  Lanny Johnson had just finished writing an article for the next issue of Kids Think and Believe which...

How Shall They Hear?

Posted on Jun 4, 2010 in Johnsons from the Front | 0 comments

I get excited as summer draws near. Summer is the time for Vacation Bible Schools and Bible camps. What an opportunity to be able to share God’s Word with kids. Many people are under the impression that VBS’s and Bible camps are only for churched kids … however, we see a lot of kids that have never set foot in a church attend these events. Many times, this is the first time they have ever heard about Biblical creation or about what Jesus did upon the cross for them –...

The Life of a Creation Speaker

Posted on Jun 3, 2010 in Nuttings from the Front | 0 comments

The life of a traveling speaker can seem glamorous at times, but what’s it really like? “Come along” with us and see. Before you even start, there’s lots of “up-front” work – scheduling, studying, lecture prep, packing, and preparing to be “away” for 2, 3, or even more weeks. Then, “on the road,” there’s hours and hours of travel time – either by road (along with sometimes hazardous road conditions, traffic, or vehicle breakdowns) or by air (with all that entails – special...
