What I Have In God Is Greater…

My cousin Tami, a wife, mother, grandmother, cowgirl, champion barrel racer, horse trainer, and so much more, died from cancer recently. Even through the pain and suffering, her faith in and love of her Savior Jesus Christ remained strong. Below is something she wrote as her death became imminent:

WHAT I HAVE IN GOD IS GREATER … words from Tami’s heart

Think for a moment about the things you own:

The house you have, the pickup you drive.

Think about the livestock you’ve bought or traded for.

Think about the clothes you’ve bought

Or the money, the saddles and the buckles you’ve won.

Envision all that stuff; then let me remind you of two biblical truths

That I have realized throughout my recent journey.

Your stuff isn’t yours. What you have in God is greater.

Ask any coroner, embalmer or funeral home director –

You don’t get to take anything with you when you go.

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and as one comes, so one departs.

I take nothing from my labor that I can carry in my hand.” (Ecclesiastes 5:15)

You know what else about all that “stuff”? – It’s not you.

Who you are has nothing to do with the clothes you wear, the pickup you drive or the horse you ride.

Jesus said, “Life is not defined by what you have, even when you have a lot.” (Luke 12:15)

Heaven does not know you as “the cowgirl with a nice horse” or “the cowboy with a new truck”.

Heaven knows your heart.

“The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.

Man looks at the outward appearance,

But the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7).

When god looks at you, He may see your compassion,

Your devotion, your tenderness or quick wit;

But, He doesn’t see your things ….

When Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior

You have a god who hears you,

The Power of Love behind you,

The Holy Spirit within you,

and all of Heaven ahead of you.

If you have the Shepherd,

you have grace for every sin,

direction for every turn,

a candle for every corner,

and an anchor for every storm.

You have everything you need.

Then you can come to a point and pray like the Puritan who sat down to a meal of bread and water.

He bowed his head and declared, “All this and Jesus, too?”

Learn to be content. What you have in God is greater.

Paul says that “godliness with contentment is great gain” (1 Timothy 6:6).

When we turn our cumbersome bag of discontent over to god, we gain something extraordinary.

God replaces it with a lightweight, tailor-made, sorrow-resistant bag of gratitude.

What might you gain with contentment?

You may gain your marriage.

You may gain precious hours with your children and grandchildren.

You may gain the love of serving others.

You may gain deep, inner joy.

You may gain the courage to face any battle.

Above all, and most importantly, you may gain the ultimate ability to worship the Giver and not the gift.

I gained all this and more. And I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that

WHAT I HAVE IN GOD IS GREATER …

Dragon and Dinosaur Connection

Mary Jo & I were giving a seminar in Parachute, Colorado, a few days ago. I had just finished my presentation on Dinosaurs and Dragons, when Bruce came up to talk with me. He was wearing a blue T-shirt from his school sporting the school emblem – a dragon. The specific emblem he had on his T-shirt was of a common dragon found in Asian and European cultures. I had just finished talking about that in my lecture, specifically since a Stanford University lecturer had mentioned how much this popular dragon looked like a new fossil, which was called Dracorex.

The Stanford lecturer thought the dragon “mythology” came from people who must have seen fossils of the dinosaur and made pictures to resemble them. Her interpretation suffers a flaw, however. The dragon images are from Asia and Europe. The fossil, though, was found in North Dakota.

It is my contention that people have actually seen living dinosaurs in the past and made pictures of them. They called them dragons, a word which really means large reptile. However, this does not fit the standard evolutionary view that people and dinosaurs were separated in time by at least 65 million years. Hence, they still refer to dragons as fairy tales or “mythological.” I find this to be inadequate since there are so many different pictures of dragons that resemble modern museum reconstructions of dinosaurs. These come from all over the world.

Let me recommend two very good resources if you wish to know more about the dinosaur/dragon connection. Both are available from AOI at 970-523-9943 (800-377-1923), or online through the links below.

Traveling Exhibit of Deception

Throughout the San Antonio, Texas area can be seen banners advertizing the Witte Museum’s latest exhibit titled, “Darwin – How One Man’s Theory Turned the World on its Head” … February 18 – September 3, 2012.  This traveling exhibit on Darwin is organized by the American Museum of Natural History, New York in collaboration with The Field Museum, Chicago; the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, The Museum of Science Boston; The Royal Ontario Museum and the Natural History Museum of London.

The overall theme of the Darwin exhibit is how Charles Darwin came to the conclusion of evolution. According to the president of SABBSA (San Antonio Bible Based Science Association), who spent three and a half hours touring the exhibit, there can be found many faulty scientific claims, assertions made from a  purely biased standpoint or evolutionary worldview, or ignored data to the contrary of what they are asserting.

Just some of the evolutionary biased statements found in the exhibit:

–          “… powerful observations showing all life have common ancestors.”

–          “… nothing we see contradicts Darwin’s theory.”

–          A video as you enter is titled “Life and Work of Charles Darwin.” It opens with many prominent evolutionists including Francis Collins (Human Genome Project and BioLogos Foundation), Eugenie Scott and Niles Eldridge (Curator of the American Museum of Natural History) telling us that the field of biology only makes sense with the acceptance of the theory of evolution.

–          A plaque on the “Nature of Species” exhibit says that prior to the 1800’s most believed the world was 6000 years old due to the Bible. This gave too little time for any theory like evolution. It also says that in the 1800’s, we thought humans were not part of the natural world because we were specially created by God. It further says that due to this, similar skeletons and anatomy were ignored. It finally says that we now know that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old via radiometric dating.

These are only a few of the observations and comments noticed by the president of SABBSA that he shared (thank you Scott Lane) in their monthly newsletter, Communiqué. Because this exhibit is traveling around to different museums in the United States, it could be coming to an area near you. Sadly, many public school children and others will file through this museum being filled with evolutionary dogma being taught as truth. So arm yourselves … see the March 2012 Issue – Creationist’s Guide to The Witte Museum’s Darwin Exhibit at http://sabbsa.org/newsletter.htm .

The Ministry continues in India

Yogesh and Vinita

We are regularly receiving phone calls from a friend who was also my translator in India.   I stayed with this man, Yogesh, and his wife, Vinita, during my last trip to India in February.

He understands the importance of teaching the truth about Genesis so much, that he has decided to do some teaching himself.  On various weekends he will present Genesis teachings to groups at various churches.

It has been a blessing to see how God will use specific individuals to further the creation message in ways we would not expect.  It is also inspiring to understand that this man from India has very limited resources, but yet desires to share his knowledge with others at his own personal expense.

Let us be faithful to pray for those who are ministering in the face of great trials.
