Passing It On To the Next Generation

Since much of our AOI staff has been with us for a long time, it has been a real blessing to Mary Jo & I to see the individual families mature (grow older together?), and in the case of the Johnsons and Stepaneks, intermarry (Robin and Ryan now have 2 children).

We really have enjoyed our extended family – including our staff kids. One of my favorite picture combos of our staff kids is of Robin Johnson helping Abbey Stepanek with a Creation/Gospel bracelet. The second photo is years later. The now grown-up Abbey Stepanek is helping the next generation, Robin (Johnson) Stepanek’s daughter, River, with a Creation/Gospel bracelet.

That is what we have been advocating at AOI: “Pass the message on to others” so that the next generation is not taken captive by the false philosophy of evolution.

So for this coming year, we also encourage you: Pass it on!

AOI Staff Christmas Party

I was just thinking today of AOI’s recent staff Christmas party. It is a fun time of getting together with the AOI “family” –including their “kids.”  We always have a white elephant exchange where you can “steal” someone else’s present, or open a new one.

I must say that you sure do see a different side of some of our staff when you see them in action during the “steal” someone else’s gift option of the exchange! They get a fiendish look in their eyes as they look around to see what they want to “steal.”

While trying to hold on to my prize, I kept warning them from the Bible — “Thou shall not steal.” Fortunately in the end, true Christian character did prevail when they showed great kindness to the teen boy attending - so he didn’t have to take home a trip diary for women! But alas, poor Sue Stepanek had to take home a Microsoft Dos manual. Nobody bailed her out!

Some of our extended family “kids” are now grown with their own families, so we sure did miss them.

From AOI to your household, we pray that you had a great Christmas and New Year season and that you continue to enjoy the New Year with your family and friends.

The Star of Bethlehem – Still Being Sought

A couple of weeks ago, I was able teach again at  the Atrium of the Grand Valley  (a retirement home in Grand Junction, CO).  The topic was the “Star of Bethlehem.”  Many people are still very interested about what the wise men saw.

Some people think it was a star, others a comet, some people do not have any idea.  People look to the heavens for the answer, but the answer is not in the sky… it’s in the book!  The Bible that is.

What the wise men knew about Jesus, and how they interpreted the Bible is the key.  They understood the prophecies and took them literally.  Because of this they saw the star, and the star led them to the Saviour.  Understanding what the star is, really shows God’s love and mercy on repentive sinners.  To know what the wise men saw you can visit our website and check out my article about the “Star of Bethlehem.”
